Mickele was found covered in blood with chunks of flesh after he was mauled by the beasts after buying sweets last Sunday.

His horrified brother came to his rescue, to find him still being attacked by one of the dogs.

Miraculously, the little boy received £185,000 ($250,000) from well wishers to allow him to fly to New York City where surgeons worked to reconstruct his face.

“He was attacked by six pit bulls on his way home from the candy store,” said Dr. Evan Garfein, chief of plastic surgery at Montefiore.

“He lost a tremendous amount of blood. He was found by his brother with the dogs still attacking him.”

Dr Garfein saw the fundraiser for the youngster and offered to help.

He said: “He had about 50 to 60% of his scalp torn away.

“Most of his forehead, his left ear, part of his left cheek, major injuries to both arms and both legs.”

The funds raised paid for Mickele’s medical care, flights for him and his mum, passports and medical visas.

His mum Shereen Antoinette Grindley said after nine hours of surgery, skin grafts he is in good spirits.

She told ABC13: “I saw him this morning.

“He is recuperating very fast, he is eating, he is talking, he is just amazing, amazing. I’m so overwhelmed.”

“I’m so happy, where he is coming from and where he is now,” Grindley said.

“I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you very much.”

Addressing Dr Garfein and everyone who donated to help Mickele, she added: “I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you very much.”
