A BRITISH Instagram star who plunged more than 250ft to her death from a notorious selfie cliff took a cocktail of booze and drugs, an inquest heard.

Madalyn Davis, 21, fell after climbing over a fence to pose for a sunrise photo in Diamond Bay in Sydney’s eastern suburbs on January 12.

The backpacker’s body was found 55ft below the surface of the sea, wedged in a rock shelf, an inquest hearing at Nottingham Coroner’s Court was told.

She had been at a house party and went with seven revellers to “a selfie hotspot” to watch the sunrise.

Madalyn, from Lincoln, climbed over a fence and fell from the cliff with one of the three men she was with heard shouting “she’s gone”.

Alcohol and traces of drugs “impaired” her “ability to make decisions and balance”, Nottinghamshire assistant coroner Gordon Clow said.

‘GREAT TRAGEDY’

He added: “There is no safe way to consume alcohol and drugs, her death was at a beauty spot which people seek to enjoy, it will doubtless not be the last.

“It was a very great tragedy of someone trying to live their life to the full”.

Madalyn was twice over the UK drink-drive limit and there was evidence she had taken amphetamines, cocaine, ketamine and MDMA, a toxicology report found.

A conclusion of misadventure was given over the 21-year-old’s death.

Madalyn had quit her job as a makeup artist to go travelling last November.

Her heartbroken family had previously called her death “the end of our world”.

Grandfather Arthur Davis told The Sun: “It is hell on earth for us. We are absolutely shattered.

“This is the second death in our family involving a child.

“We are absolutely distraught, we are wrecked and her mum is not coping at all.

“There is nothing more tragic for our family but tragedies do sadly happen every day somewhere.”

Mr Davis added: “She was a beautiful, delightful girl who had her whole life ahead of her.”

Madalyn, from Lincoln, quit her job as a makeup artist to go travelling last year.

Her Instagram account, with 20,000 followers, showed her partying in Thailand and Bali before she arrived in Australia.

Her mum Rebecca Smith hit back at “nasty” trolls who mocked her death online.

She said: “My daughter was not self-obsessed, she was a wonderful beautiful person that made a mistake.

“How can you write such things? She has a little sister and brother who be reading this.

“Madalyn was loved, she had integrity and decency.

“If you need to believe otherwise in order to feel better about yourself then that’s your pain.

“Fill your boots you nasty people, you are the one that has to sleep with yourself at night.”

And she added: “She always wanted to be famous so thank you trolls you are making this happen.”
