DAVE ALLEN comforted himself with fried chicken after dodging serious injury in his battering heavyweight defeat to David Price on Saturday night.

The ‘Doncaster De Le Hoya’ required urgent treatment in the ring and left on a stretcher while wearing an oxygen mask.

Having given a brave display in the ten round beating, a trip to the hospital confirmed that Allen did not suffer any broken bones despite initial fears.

And, on Sunday, the boxer posted a picture on Instagram of himself embracing a KFC with a bruised face.

He captioned the snap: “Everything’s okay, now gonna go have a few quite days [to] let my face and pride heal and I’ll be back. Thanks for all nice messages.”

In the O2 Arena bout, 36-year-old Price showed his class to reinstate a potential final assault on the heavyweight divison.

His celebrations were muted after Allen’s corner threw in the towel at the sight of his numerous injuries.

New WBA Continental belt holder Price is still bouncing back after a major defeat to Alexander Povetkin last year.

Allen, meanwhile, suffered his fifth career defeat on the Dillian Whyte undercard and will take time to recuperate from this setback.

After the fight, he hinted at retirement on Twitter: “Don’t want anyone to worry about me, just a hard man gone old and soft the last 18 months.

“Very happy and proud of David Price, I will be okay but the last 12 months or so my health has been deteriorating and I’m glad I hung on took the chance and made money and now probably done.”
