DVLA outbreak of coronavirus hits over 300 workers – how it could impact driving licences

“If you apply online, you should receive your driving licence or vehicle documents within 10 days (it can take between six to eight weeks if you post your applications to us).”

In the last year, the DVLA added an extension on the expiry date of driving licence photo cards expiring between February 1 and December 31 2020.

Drivers who are due to renew their licences ahead of this date have an 11-month extension from the date of expiry.

“This means that you will not need to renew your photocard or entitlement to drive until 11 months after your original expiry date,” continues the DVLA.

“You do not need to do anything as this extension is automatic.
