'Flash in the pan!' Queen will NOT be worried about Meghan and Harry's global fame – poll

On Sunday evening, Harry participated in Vax Live, a concert attended by fully vaccinated people aimed at throwing support behind a drive to distribute Covid vaccine jabs to as many people throughout the world as possible. The event is being broadcasted next Saturday, but the attendance of the Duke of Sussex has already generated a lot of interest online. Several fans of Meghan and Harry noted the Duke was warmly welcomed at the concert, which saw him receive a loud round of applause from the attending crowd when he made his way on stage.

A number of people however claimed this positive reaction to his appearance at the concert could be a source of concern for the Royal Family – possibly suggesting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could overshadow the Firm.

But this has been overwhelmingly dismissed by several thousand Express.co.uk readers in our latest poll.

The poll, which ran from `1.30pm until 9.30pm on Monday May 3, asked: “Should the Queen be worried about Meghan Markle and Harry’s global fame?”

A huge 91 percent (7,414 readers) said the Queen will not be worried about the couples fame around the world.

The remaining nine percent (657 readers) disagreed, while less than one percent were undecided.

Commenting on the initial story, one Express.co.uk reader said: “These two are hanging off the back of the Queen’s coattails for fame. Flash in the pan.”

A second person wrote: “Most people in America totally ignore them! So far their many achievement has been self-promotion.

Another reader commented: “In a year they will be yesterday’s news. What else do they have to offer but their royal connections?”

“Somehow doubt that anyone other than the Queen or his late mother would get similar.”

One fan of the Sussexes retweeted this message, adding: “True and that’s why his family are jealous #PrinceHarry #ServiceisUniversal #VaxLive”.

Another said: “THIS IS WHAT SCARES THE ROYAL FAMILY #PrinceHarry #VaxLive #ServiceisUniversal”.

A third added: “Now that’s the reaction the #royalfamily are worried about. Everyone loves #HarryandMeghan”.

Another fan of the Sussexes tweeted: “Prince Harry received a standing ovation from over 20,000 people at the #VaxLive concert – not something many other members of the Royal Family would achieve.

“Harry did what he does best, inspired people! Congratulations Harry on the lovely reception in the US!”

Harry gave a speech on stage at Vax Live as one of the event’s campaign chairs while Meghan, who also took on this role, is scheduled speak in a video when the concert will be broadcast in the US next weekend.

Speaking at the event, the Duke of Sussex paid tribute to frontline staff who continue to work to support their communities during the devastating coronavirus pandemic.

He said: “The vaccine must be distributed to everyone everywhere.

“We cannot rest or truly recover until there is fair distribution to every corner of the world.

“The mission in front of us is one we cannot afford to fail out and that’s what tonight is about.

“The virus does not respect borders and access to the vaccine cannot be determined by geography.

“It must be accepted as a basic right for all and that is our starting point.”
