DEAR DEIDRE: MY online girlfriend is having another man’s child.

I worry she’ll end it between us, even though she’s told the father we’re together.

We’ve been speaking online for four months.

It’s developed into a strong relationship, even though we’ve never met.

I’m 38 and live in London, she’s 35 and is in the States.

We have phone sex and send pictures – the kind of stuff you can do via phone or internet.

She’d been feeling unwell, and discovered she was five months pregnant after a visit to the doctor’s.

The father hasn’t been around since she told him the news.

Nothing changes the way I feel about her.

DEIDRE SAYS: The phone and online sex is probably a wonderful distraction for your “girlfriend” from what sounds like real problems closer to home – close enough to get pregnant.

But there is a world of a difference between that and a strong relationship.

You do not know whether you would make a good couple in real life.

Do not let this friendship stop you from finding real love closer to home.
