The Prince said Kate “does all the gardening” but added: “I really like it, but I have no idea what I’m doing.”
After the visit, Brian added that the Duke said Kate encouraged him to get more into gardening.
Kate has seemingly tried to do this by asking the Prince to read Monty Don’s books.
Brian stated: “He told me Kate is getting him into gardening.
“She’s going to get him Monty Don’s book.”
The Men’s Sheds co-ordinator added another sweet reason why Kate may want her husband to pick up the hobby.
As it is something Prince Charles reportedly likes to do, it could become a bonding activity for the father and son.
“He said she wants to get him into it because Charles is into it, so it’s something for them to enjoy together,” Brian continued.
“He was so down to earth, such a nice man.”
Prince Charles is well known for his environmental campaigns and is also thought to be a keen gardener.
Prince William visited Brighter Futures, a consortium of eight local groups, to find out more on how it supports children, families and older people in the local community.
His revelations about Kate’s love of gardening are unlikely to come as a shock to many.
The Duchess of Cambridge co-designed the Back to Nature garden which appeared at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2019.
The garden was designed with families and childhood as its focus.
Following the show, Kate collaborated with the Royal Horticultural Society again to share gardening tips.
She helped publish five activity guides intended to inspire young gardeners to engage with gardens and nature at their own homes.
