The electrician spotted the fish flapping in the water as it attempted to swim back through a fence into the Fowey at Liskeard, Cornwall.
Amazingly Chris managed to grab the 6lbs fish.
He lifted it out of the knee high water by hand.
Chris then posed for a snap before putting it back in the river to continue the trip towards its breeding grounds.

Chris, chairman of the ECC Ports Sea Angling Club, said: “Ordinarily I fish in sea water and we’ve come across a lot of salmon.
“It’s their breeding season so they’re going upstream.
“They spend most of their lives out in the Atlantic.”
