KEITH Lemon has revealed a star-studded ‘lockdown’ version of Do They Know It’s Christmas starring Emma Bunton and Ronan Keating.

The Celebrity Juice host has called on his famous friends to help him raise money for a host of charities by recording the classic Christmas track.

Keith Lemon has brought a number of stars together to record a lockdown version of Do They Know It’s Christmas?

Do They Know It’s Christmas? was originally released by Band Aid – involving a whole host of singers – in 1984.

It was written by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds to help the victims of the Ethiopian famine.

The song was re-recorded by other pop stars for a second outing in 1989 then again in 2004 and 2014 for various fundraising campaigns.

After a difficult year and the ongoing effects of the coronavirus pandemic, Keith has decided to do his bit for charity and record a fifth version of the track, this time with the stars singing their vocals in their own homes.

Ronan Keating also recorded some vocals on his phone and sent them to Keith

He revealed in a video: “It’s been a bit of a funny old year hasn’t it? I say funny, it hasn’t been funny at all, it’s been junk.

“But Christmas is just around the corner, I’m excited for that as I love Christmas and all the Christmas songs.

“In fact I can remember back in 1984 I bought Do They Know It’s Christmas on 7 inch vinyl, I also bought it again in 1989.”

He continued: “Some people I work with are unaware of the song, so I thought why don’t I release my own version of it? Why don’t I create what they did back in the day and try and get as many people on it as I can?

“So I sent out message to people saying will you record a line or a bit of chorus and I got loads back which was very nice so thank you all for taking the time to do that.

“There’s some charities at the end of the video so if you can donate I’m sure they’ll appreciate it, if you can’t, well, Merry Christmas, try and have the best Christmas.”

Keith then tries to sing the opening line in front of a green screen showing a Christmas dinner, but the Bear from Bo’ Selecta! tells him to stop and let Pixie Lott do it instead.

After Pixie sings the first few lines, videos filmed on their phones reveal singers including Jade Jones from Damage and his Spice Girls partner Emma Bunton, Matt Goss from Bros, Rick Astley and Ronan Keating.

The track doesn’t just feature pop stars past and present, but also theatre and TV stars including John Barrowman, Denise Van Outen, Anna Friel and Michelle Visage.

TV presenters Laura Whitmore and Richard Arnold also pop up while former X Factor finalist Fleur East provides a rap part way through.

The track is available to download on Friday and people are encouraged to donate to one of the following charities: The Trussell Trust, Crisis, Unicef, Shelter and Samaritans.
