Mr Coveney said an EU briefing scheduled for 8.30am has now been pushed back. When asked whether there had been a last-minute hitch, Mr Coveney said there had been – but stressed such a development was not unusual given the tortuous nature of negotiations.
Mr Coveney said a deal with respect to the fishing access had been agreed “in principle” – but emphasised details were still being thrashed out.
He also suggested he was hopeful “Brexit can provide us with some good news today” – but was unable to provide any firm guarantees.
