Mariah Carey, 50, has had an impressive career spanning more than 30 years. With Christmas fast approaching, many people are sure to be listening to her hit song All I Want For Christmas Is You.

The classic tune was released in 1994 as part of Mariah’s first festive album, Merry Christmas.

The song has topped the charts in nearly 30 countries including the UK, the United States, Canada and Australia.

It may have been released 26 years ago but the upbeat track still climbs the charts in the run up to Christmas each year.

Mariah’s popular track is the best-selling Christmas song by a female artist and it has had estimated sales of more than 16 million copies.

In 2010, the singer re-recorded the song for her second Christmas album, Merry Christmas II You.

She also recorded a version of the single as a collaboration with singer Justin Bieber in 2011.

She signed with Columbia records in 1990 but her first album, titled Mariah Carey, did not receive commercial success straight away.

But after a successful Grammy performance, the album soon became the best-selling album in the US in 1991, selling more than 15 million copies.

Mariah continued to build her fortune with the release of seven albums in the 1990s.

In 2001, she moved to Virgin Records and signed a contract for £60million.

However, after her record Glitter failed to have commercial success, her contract was bought out for £21million.

Mariah then signed with Island Records in a deal worth a huge £18million.

Since her career began, she has had continued success with the release of 15 studio albums.

The music legend also added to her fortune with a stint as the judge on season 12 of American Idol in 2013.

Mariah earned £13.5million for the stint, or around £340,000 per episode.
