Michelle Keegan re-enacts romantic Titanic moment with Brassic co-star Joe Gilgun

IT’S not quite the classic scene made famous by Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in Titanic.

But Michelle Keegan and Brassic co-star Joe Gilun tried to recreate the iconic moment from the 1997 film.

Michelle, who plays Erin Croft in the Sky1 show, wrapped up warm for the scene on the River Conwy in North Wales.

The former Corrie star had a stunt double for shooting a fall into the cold water. But brave Joe, who plays Vinnie O’Neil in the comedy-drama, took on the stunt himself, with crew members seen wrapping a buoyancy aid around his shoulders.

Michelle recently returned to the set after having to self- isolate for two weeks following exposure to Covid.

The pair, who have developed feelings for each other as the series has gone on, were seen practicing their scene on the boat before heading out to sea.

It entailed Joe standing in front of Michelle, both with their arms outstretched like the famous scene in the 1997 film Titanic with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.

However, the sweet moment won’t go to plan – in typical Brassic style – as both Erin and Vinnie will fall overboard and into the sea.

In between takes, Michelle was seen wearing a face mask to adhere to the show’s strict Covid-19 health and safety protocols.

Earlier in the week, Michelle was seen retching over the side of the boat as she filmed her scenes.

Although the Sky One drama is a comedy, it’s a part the former Corrie star takes very seriously.

She told the PlotTwist podcast: “A lot of the time you see working class mums are portrayed in a dark way and hard done by, but Erin doesn’t feel like that.

“She’s ambitious and that’s how I wanted her to be portrayed, in a positive way.”

The third Brassic series is due to air next year.
