A RETIRED Royal Navy engineer who served on the Queen’s yacht Britannia stalked his ex-partner with tracking devices.
Rodney Coffin, 72, attached two devices to wheel arches of Mandy Pollyn’s car to find out where she was living.
She had moved into a hotel because she did not feel safe at home after seeing Coffin outside. Mandy, 55, found one device and removed it. But she missed the second, which Coffin used to track her to the hotel.
After spotting him outside she drove to a police station.
Coffin, of Bournemouth, followed and was arrested. He was jailed for two years after admitting stalking.
Bournemouth crown court heard that Coffin would not accept the relationship was over and breached a restraining order.
He had sent Mandy hundreds of texts and emails declaring his love. She told the court: “It’s been terrible. I want him away from me forever.”
Prosecutor Jane Rowley said: “The victim was in a relationship with the defendant for two years but left him as he was possessive and controlling.”
