FORMER UFC light-heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort has called out Anderson Silva as he looks to avenge his 2011 defeat.

The 43-year-old was stopped in the first round against his Brazilian compatriot nine years ago for the middleweight belt.

A rematch was expected to take place, but the fight never materialised as Silva lost his title to Chris Weidman.

Belfort subsequently fought Weidman in 2015, but just like the Spider, he was stopped by the American.

But he still hopes of meeting Silva inside the octagon for a second time having not got over his KO defeat.

The Phenom was sent crashing to the canvas after Silva landed a devastating front-kick to his face.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, Belfort said: “Anderson, you know, he’s living off of that kick.

“So let’s go, it’s time to go. I consider myself as a fine wine, a Bordeaux wine.”

Belfort hasn’t fought since losing against Lyoto Machida in 2018, while Silva has lost seven out of his last nine contests.

The 45-year-old is currently a free agent having been released by the UFC following his defeat to Uriah Hall in October.

As well as Silva, Belfort has also spoke of his desire to pit his wits against MMA and WWE legend Brock Lesnar.

He told Submission Radio in September: “Brock Lesnar, I think you’re a fraud. But I’ll give you a chance.

“I think you’re a fraud. If you really want to fight with me, let’s go bare hands, me and you.

“We put the gloves, we go combat, you know? I know you’re a very tough man. I heard you’re a grappler, but I’ll fight you, man.

“I’ll fight you any day, any time, and I think that’s a legendary fight right there. But I think he’s a fraud in MMA.”
