Whitaker, 69, is an American television journalist best known as a correspondent for his work on the CBS News program 60 Minutes.
The 69-year-old’s broadcast journalism career began in 1979 at KQED station in San Francisco, California.
In 1982, Whitaker became a correspondent for WBTC in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In 1984, Whitaker joined CBS News while working as a reported in Atlanta.

Cooper will step away as guest host of America’s favorite quiz show after April 30.
Whitaker will take the mantle as Jeopardy! guest host from May 3 to May 14.
